The Molly’s Law Documentary Premiere was held on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Marion Theatre in Ocala, Florida. Peggy Hoyt was among fellow animal lovers and advocates, elected officials and community leaders for the premiere event.
“Molly’s Law” is an animal abuser registry designed to keep animal abusers from owning innocent animal victims. Once convicted, an animal abuser’s name would be publicly available so people and animal organizations would know never to allow this person to own or possess another pet. If passed statewide, no animal abuser would be able to simply cross county lines to avoid detection. For more information you can visit the website for SPCA of Ocala.
Molly’s Law works together with Ponce’s Law – Florida’s felony animal abuse statute championed by Debbie Darino. You can find out more about Ponce’s Law at Florida Statutes 828.12. Offenders can face hefty fines, incarceration and a prohibition on future animal ownership.
